One COVID-19 fatality was reported while nine persons tested positive in Ukhrul district as per the latest update. The deceased, a resident of Jessami village, succumbed to Covid infection at the Ukhrul district hospital Thursday.
To prevent further spread of the disease in the infected areas, the district administration had declared six residences of the district as containment zones and eased containment measures from two residences as all the family members have been retested and found to be negative.
The residences declared containment areas with immediate effect were of one Shanghan Zingyo Maizailung, Ukhrul; residence of Shanmila R Shimray, wife of Ringmi R Shimray, Wino Bazar, Ukhrul; residence of Kashungam Kashung, son of Ngaraipam Kashung, Konghang Ngayi tang, Ukhrul; residence of Brightson Zingkhai, husband of Lantingla, Rayotang Ukhrul; residence of KS Huimila, wife of Mepo, Kamphasom Ukhrul and residence of KS Wonshimla, daughter of KS Khathing, Kamphason tang Ukhrul.
In addition to promulgation of containment areas, the district magistrate had sealed, barred entry and exit of population from the containment areas and had directed to initiate active surveillance of COVID -19 active cases with immediate effect.
On the other hand, as COVID-19 positive caseload spiralled in the state, the district police department which had been tasked to ensure strict compliance of public curfew continued to carry out its job so that the public follow the laid down SOPs and the spread of the deadly virus is prevented.
