Manipur police continue crackdown on COVID-19 SOPs violators

On Monday, 282 persons were detained for violating COVID-19 SOPs.

The police department continued to crackdown on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the state government and State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic.

A release by inspector general of police (Ops), nodal officer (COVID-19) for Manipur Police, E Priyokumar Singh said that during the drive Monday, 282 persons were detained for violating the SOPs and later released after warning. Further, a total fine of Rs 1,07,150 was collected from the violators as per law.

The police department warned that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws, it added.
