MYFA to intensify demand for inclusion of Manipuri as associate official language of Assam

The Manipuri Youth Front of Assam held a meeting on Sunday and decided to intensify the campaign for inclusion of Manipuri as an associate official language of Assam.

Manipuri Youth Front of Assam (MYFA) has resolved to intensify the campaign for inclusion of Manipuri as an associate official language of Assam.

The resolution was taken during a meeting of MYFA general headquarters convened on Sunday at the office hall of Lairembi Meira Paibi Lup located at Kamranga.

It resolved to inform the chairman of Manipuri Language Protection Coordination Committee (MLPCC) for further steps to be taken in regard to the campaign.

After intense deliberation, the participants at the meeting also resolved to open Meitei-Mayek learning centres at various places in Assam. Besides the selection of Seram Herajit as chief advisor of the youth’s association, the meeting further resolved to select another legal advisor and four other members as advisors.

President of MYFA, Thangjam Brojen, in his presidential address, stated that the youth’s association will keep working for the welfare and progress of all Manipuri societies in Assam. “I have the utmost trust that the public will provide support for the initiatives taken up by MYFA,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, newly appointed chief advisor of MYFA, Seram Herajit Singh appealed to the public to be careful and remain cautious in light of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Let us all try to follow the SOPs and Covid protocols,” he said while also assuring that MYFA will not cease its efforts for the welfare of the public.

The meeting also witnessed the participation of secretary of MYFA, Soram Thoiba and the president of Assam Manipuri Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (AMMPAL), Sanathoi along with Thabalei Devi and Naosekpam Biramani among others.
