24,000 orange saplings to be planted under Community Development Society Churachandpur

The Community Development Society Churachandpur supported by NABARD, under their tribal development programme flagged off their THEIHUAN-II Project (Fruit farms - II project) at its office located at Dorcas veng on Thursday.  

The occasion was carried out with strict compliance of SOPs where the  additional DC S Khaikhopau Ngaihte flagged of the 24,000 orange saplings for eight villages located at Mualnuam and Suangdoh  sub-division in the presence of ADG /DDM NABARD Churachandpur Thangchinkhup Guide and CDS staff.

The orange saplings were of Nagpur- Mandarin variety which will bring livelihood to more than 200 villagers from eight villages where the fields are ready for plantation, said president of CDS Lianzamung Tonsing. He added that another 14,600 saplings will arrive in a week’s time.

He said that in 2019, they had initiated THEIHUAN -I project under help from NABARD Churachandpur and RO Imphal at Pherzawl district to the residents of 11 villages which yielded  products where the beneficiaries had express their thankfulness to the CDS Churachandpur and NABARD as they can now see the fruits of their efforts.

The THEIHUAN-II Project was the initiative of the CDS (which were also the first NGO in Churachandpur to facilitate online examination centre for competitive examination organised by the government of India) with support from NABARD through their Tribal Development Fund which offered development to willing villagers through fruit farms at Suangdoh and Mualnuam sub Division of Churachandpur.
