Manipur on Thursday recorded the highest single-day death toll with 13 fatalities in a span of 24 hours, pushing the state's COVID-19 death toll to 447, the state health department said.
Of the 13 COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Thursday, six death cases were from Imphal West, three from Imphal East, two from Bishnupur and one each from Churachandpur and Kaching, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
With 380 new COVID-19 positive cases in 24 hours, Manipur's COVID-19 caseload surged to 33,733, including 2,991 COVID-19 active cases and 30,295 recovered cases, the release stated.
The new COVID-19 positive cases included 362 from the general population and 18 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), it stated.
Among the new positive cases from the general population, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 positive cases at 170 and 116 respectively. The other new COVID-19 positive cases included 29 from Churachandpur, 23 from Kakching, five each from Thoubal and Tamenglong, four each from Ukhrul and Kangpokpi, and one each from Senapati and Noney, according to the release.
The release further stated that air passengers who travelled to the state on May 3, 2021 by Air India flight AI-3713 in rows 12-18 are to inform the Common Covid Control Room at 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) immediately.
Meanwhile, a total of 677 D type oxygen cylinders and 519 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of the state, the release stated.
As per the latest updates, the cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state reached 2,42,359.
