Ban on setting fire in Kakching forest areas

An order issued by DC Kengoo Zuringla on April 30 stated that there is a ban on wilful setting of fire and action will be taken against gross negligence if fire is occurred in any forest area under Kakching district.

The deputy commissioner of Kakching district has banned setting fire in any of the forest areas of the district.

An order issued by DC Zuringla Kengoo on April 30 stated that there is a ban on wilful setting of fire and action will be taken on gross negligence if fire is occurred in any forest area under Kakching district.

The order notified the general public of Kakching district that during the prolonged dry spell accompanied by strong wind, the occurrence of forest wildfire has become a common phenomenon in the district and state. The loss caused by forest fire to the environment is irreplaceable and cannot be compensated.

It further warned that all the general public are informed not to set fire wilfully or by gross negligence in any forest area.

Stating that any person who acts in contravention to the notification shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term of six months or with a fine of Rs 500 or with both under Section 33 of the Indian Forest Act 1927, and Section 11 of the Manipur Forest Rules 1971, the order mentioned.
