Special Covid care centre for male patients opened in Manipur

Altogether, 17 patients were admitted to the men's Covid care centre on opening day in Imphal.

A 235-bedded Covid Care Centre (CCC) exclusively for male patients was opened at Bal Bhawan, Imphal on Sunday.

As per information from the Health department, altogether 17 male COVID-19 patients were admitted to the centre on opening day. The centre was closed down in December 2020 after Covid positive cases gradually declined in the state.

Another 200-bedded centre exclusively for female patients is likely to be opened on Monday at the Hall of National Sports University (NSU) office complex, situated inside the Khuman Lampak sports complex, Imphal.

Dr Babychand, who is in charge of the CCC, said that they are awaiting approval from the YAS department to open the centre for female patients.

“Necessary arrangement has been put in place. We are hopeful that the centre for female will be opened by Monday evening," said Dr Babychand.

The doctor further informed that the state is planning to activate the 600 capacity CCC at Lambui Khongnangkhong in Imphal West district. This is in addition to 100-bedded Isolation ward in JNIMS and 52-bedded ward in RIMS. The two medical institutes also have 10 ICU beds each.
