Refrain from trekking Mt Koubru during pandemic, COPPK appeals

Trekking of Mt Koubru at this juncture has also become risky while COVID-19 positive cases among the trekkers had also been already detected, COPPK secretary Lamtinthang Haokip said.

Considering the alarming state of affairs due to the surge of COVID-19 infection and fatalities, the Committee on Protection and Preservation of Mt Koubru (COPPK) appealed to all citizens of Manipur to desist from trekking Mt Koubru during the pandemic.

The nation as well as the state has been hit hard by the pandemic, said COPPK secretary Lamtinthang Haokip in a press conference at KSO Administrative office at Kangpokpi district headquarters on Sunday.

Trekking of Mt Koubru at this juncture has also become risky while COVID-19 positive cases among the trekkers had also been already detected, he said. “Therefore, I make a sincere appeal to the people of Manipur both from the valley and the hills to refrain ourselves from trekking Mt Koubru at this alarming situation,” he said.

“When this disturbing pandemic is over or contained, let us all climb together to worship or embark on various activities to bring back the past glory, its originality and essence of our beautiful and pride of the state, the Mt Koubru,” he added.
