Ban on all sporting activities in Manipur amid COVID-19 surge

Ban is also imposed on entry of visitors at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex except officials and staff of Youth Affairs and Sports, National Sport University and other departments located at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

The Manipur government has imposed ban on all sporting activities in the state and any sport-related activity at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex and other sport complexes in the districts, including privately run or managed sport complexes.

The banned on sporting activities was imposed in view of the second wave of COVID-19 and ever increasing cases in Manipur and also taking into consideration the recommendation of the State Consultative Committee of State Disaster Management Authority, said a notification issued by the commissioner of Youth Affairs and Sports Bobby Waikhom on Wednesday.

The notification also mentioned ban on entry of visitors at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex except officials and staff of Youth Affairs and Sports, National Sport University and other departments located at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

Manipur on Wednesday reported the highest single-day new confirmed positive cases at 259, pushing the statewide positive tally to 31,001, according to the state health department.
