Fifteen people fined, sent to three-day jail for not wearing mask in Imphal

Fifteen people were fined and sentenced to three-day simple imprisonment for not wearing masks by the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West on Tuesday.

They were picked up by City police from Khwairamband Bazar areas, Imphal for not wearing masks at public places which is a violation of COVID-19 SOPs issued by the state government.

The 15 individuals were imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 each and the amount is to be deposited to the state account.

The 15 persons, namely Karan Bhattarai, Bharat Kumar, Anil Kalikote, Palwan Kumar, Dheeraj Kumar, Subodh Das, Rampukar Sah, Suresh Mahoto, Raman Kumar, Anil Betha, Subodh Tanti, Jitendra Singh, Ganesh Kumar Nishad and Md Abdul Satar were picked up for committing offence against section 32 of the Police Act, 1861.

The police submitted a prayer before the court to take action under the appropriate section of law and prevent such activities in the future.
