In view of the threat posed by the recent surge in new COVID-19 positive cases in Imphal West areas and as a measure to contain the spread of the virus, DC Imphal West district, Naorem Praveen Singh declared 24 areas in the district as containment zones on Sunday.
The containment zones are certain areas at Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai; Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai; Malom Tuliyaima Mayai Leikai; Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai; Pishumthong Oinam Leikai; Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai; Sagolband Meino Leirak; Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai; Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak; Singjamei Chingamakha; Singjamei Chirom Leikai; Singjamei Sougrakpam Leikai; Singjamei Thongam Leikai; Taothong Khunou; Singjamei Top Leikai; Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai; Thangal Bazaar; Uripok Bachaspati Leikai; Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai and Yumnam Leikai Lairembi Maning along with two areas each at Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Leikai and Sagolband Salam Leikai, stated the orders issued by the deputy commissioner, Imphal West.
Manipur on Monday reported five deaths due to COVID-19, the highest single-day death case in 2021, and 146 new COVID-19 positive cases.
