Manipur Updates: Ninety-six more test positive for Coronavirus, total tally surges to 777
All the 96 new cases, 64 males and 32 female patients, are returnees from other states and they have been shifted to Covid care facilities at JNIMS and RIMS, the state health department said.
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur surged to 777 on Saturday as 96 more persons tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, the state health department said.
All the 96 new cases, 64 males and 32 female patients, are returnees from other states and they have been shifted to Covid care facilities at JNIMS and RIMS, the state health department spokesperson Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said in a 7 pm release on Saturday.
Of them, 31 are from Tamenglong, 22 from Kangpokpi, 13 from Bishnupur, 12 from Senapati, six from Kamjong, five from Kakching, four from Ukhrul. Imphal East reported two cases while the other one is reported from Tengnoupal, Dr Mangang said.
With the detection of new cases, the active cases in the state rose to 545 on Saturday.
The spokesperson said that of the new cases, 46 cases were confirmed at the VRDL of RIMS while 50 cases were reported at the VRDL of JNIMS in Imphal.
Meanwhile, 14 patients were discharged on Saturday, nine from RIMS and five from JNIMS, after they were found COVID-19 negative on RT-PCR test. With it, the total number of recovered cases has risen to 232. The recovery rate is now 29.85 per cent.
The state health department further stated that the health facilities with isolation beds, located at or near district headquarters, Mao and Moreh border towns, are now provided with ventilators. The total number of available ventilators is 48, the state health department added.
