Reinstate Hemam Jamuna Devi as nursing college principal: High Court tells RIMS

A division bench of the Manipur High Court comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar and justice Kh Nobin Singh gave the direction on Thursday in connection with a writ appeal filed by Jamuna, challenging her termination order from the post of professor-cum-principal.

The Manipur High Court on Thursday directed the RIMS authority to reinstate Hemam Jamuna Devi as professor-cum-principal of the College of Nursing, RIMS, Imphal with all consequential benefits.

A division bench of the Manipur High Court comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar and justice Kh Nobin Singh gave the direction on Thursday in connection with a writ appeal filed by Jamuna, challenging her termination order from the post of professor-cum-principal with effect from April 30, 2020, order dated July 27, 2020 issued by the director of RIMS.

Jamuna stated in her statement submitted before the court that the post of professor-cum-principal of the nursing college was a teaching faculty post and relied upon the letter dated November 5, 2009 of the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry.

Claiming that she turned 60 years on April 30, 2020, she further stated that she had the right to continue in the said post till she attained the age of 65 years as per the Central government’s order dated July 28, 2010.
