Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tests COVID-19 positive

The minister urged those who have come in contact with him recently to get themselves tested.

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has said that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and urged those who have come in contact with him recently to get themselves tested.

Taking to Twitter, the education minister said that he is taking medication and treatment as per doctors' advice.

"This is to inform you all that I have tested COVID positive today. I am taking medication & treatment as per the advice of my doctors. Request all those who have come in my contact recently to be observant, and get themselves tested," Nishank tweeted.

The Union education minister said that all the works of the Ministry of Education are being conducted normally observing necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, as per the latest updates by the Union Health Ministry, India on Tuesday reported a total of 2,95,041 COVID-19 positive cases and 2,023 deaths, taking the country's caseload to 1,56,16,130 and the death toll to 1,82,553.
