LMTL general secretary Laishram Bobisana said on Tuesday that the LMTL will be organising a mass awareness programme on preventive measures against COVID-19.

A civil body has banned all forms of public gathering, including concerts, feasting and festival events, in view of the second wave of COVID-19 at Lamlai area in Imphal East, Manipur.

Announcing the ban on Tuesday, the Lamlai Mapari Thougal Lup (LMTL) said the public need to strictly comply with the orders issued by the state government to avoid any kind of unwanted consequences likely to occur in the near future from the second wave of the COVID-19.

LMTL general secretary Laishram Bobisana told mediapersons at Manipur Press Club, Imphal on Tuesday that the LMTL will be organising a mass awareness programme on preventive measures against COVID-19 in and around Lamlai area beginning Wednesday.

“Let us start taking preventive measures, starting from the individual level and combat the pandemic with responsibility,” he said.

He appealed to the local clubs and meira paibis to impose similar bans on social gathering at their respective localities.

Bobisana also said that the people of Lamlai assembly constituency have not been getting their rightful NFSA rice since the last few months and their assembly constituency does not have an MLA to look after them in this current pandemic.

Considering these facts, the general secretary also drew Chief Minister N Biren’s attention to look into the matter of irregularities in distribution of NFSA rice and to take up necessary welfare works for the people of Lamlai assembly constituency.
