L Lamjingba has claimed the Sub-Junior Boys Single champion title of the ‘1st State Level Late Laimayum Bihari Sharma Memorial Table Tennis Tournament 2021’ played at UYO Community Hall, Singjamei Beigyabati Leikai.
Representing Thoubal, Lamjingba faced Sinthoihenba of Imphal East in the Sub-Junior Boys final played on Saturday during which the latter gave a good challenge to Lamjingba for the title. However, Lamjingba made a solid stance and went on to enjoy his win in a straight game dominating the match with 11-7, 11-6, 11-8 and 11-9 points.
As for the Men’s’ Open Double final, the pair of Th Dharmendra Singh and Ksh Vikash Singh of Accountant General overcame L Bikram Singh and Th Deepak of MPSC by 3-1 game to lay their hands on the champion title.
The first two games went in favour of Dharmendra and Vikash with 11-7 and 11-6 points. However in the third game, the police pair of L Bikram and Deepak bounced back strongly with 11-4 points. Keeping the momentum going, the fourth game witnessed hectic efforts from the police pair, but Dharmendra and Vikash enjoyed the moment with the 14-12 point victory today.
The Men’s Single final is scheduled to be played on Sunday between Y Subashchandra of Imphal West and L Bikram of MPSC. In the first semi-final match, Subashchandra beat Deepak of MPSC by 12-10, 11-7, 8-11, 11-7 and 11-9 points while in the second semi-final, Bikram beat E Thomas by 11-6, 11-4, 11-8., 9-11 and 11-6 points.
