39 new COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur

Imphal West reported 17 new COVID-19 positive cases on Saturday, the highest among the districts in Manipur.

COVID-19 continued to surge in Manipur as Saturday recorded the highest daily spike in 2021 with 39 new positive cases, up from 31 cases on Friday, taking the state tally of confirmed cases to 29,649, according to the latest update by the state health department.

Of the 39 new cases, three were personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), while 17 were reported from Imphal West, nine from Imphal East, four from Bishnupur, two each from Kakching and Kangpokpi, and one each from Chandel, Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Thoubal and Ukhrul.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, Aditional director and spokesperson, Manipur Health Department, stated in the release from the state Common Covid-19 Control Room.

However, no COVID-19 related deaths were reported on Saturday and the death toll stood at 376,

The total number of recovered cases increased to 29,083 as 14 more patients recovered, the release stated. It also stated that the recovery rate dipped to 98.09 percent from 98.17 per cent on Friday. The case recovery rate on Thursday was 98.25 per cent and 98.27 per cent on Wednesday and 98.32 per cent on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the total number of active cases rose to 190 on Saturday from 165 on Friday, the release added.

Air passengers who travelled to the state on April 15 by Air India flight AI-713 in row 3-9 are to inform the Common COVID-19 Control Room No 18003453818 or respective district surveillance officers immediately, the release added.

COVID-19 Vaccination drive in Manipur April 15

As per the latest update by the health department, the total number of people vaccinated in the state is 1,04,387.

All persons above 45 years are advised to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, District hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and select private hospitals, the department added.
