Workshop on National Deworming Day 2021 held

Parents of children from age group of 1 to 19 years were urged to cooperate in the door to door visit by the ASHA/AWW/ANM.

The District Health Society, Thoubal organised a one-day workshop on National Deworming Day 2021 on Friday at NHM Conference Hall, CMO Complex, Thoubal district.

The programme was attended by CMO of Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul Singh; medical superintendent of District Hospital, Thoubal, Dr Ch Memcha Devi; district programme officer of Thoubal, T Anita Devi; and Dr Kh Budhachandra Singh of Yairipok Universal College, Wangkhem as presidium members.

Welcoming the participants, district programme manager of District Health Society, Thoubal, Ch Basanta Singh briefed on the importance of organising the workshop and observing National Deworming Day during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr Nokul explained through a PowerPoint presentation about the role to be played by the teachers, Anganwadi workers, ASHAs and ANMs for successful implementation of the National Deworming Day which will be started from April 19 till April 28. He also mentioned that the role of the CDPOs, supervisors of the ICDS is very crucial. He appealed to all the stakeholders to work hard so that no one is left out from taking Albendazole 400 mg tablet that helps control worm infection. It is an effective and safe drug approved by the World Health Organisation and is enlisted in the Government of India’s essential medicines list, he added.

He also appealed to the parents of the children from age group of 1 to 19 years to cooperate in the door to door visit by the ASHA/AWW/ANM.

MO (in-charge) of UPHC Phouden, Dr M Rakesh Meitei highlighted the precautions to be taken up during the NDD. He explained the participants about the need for maintaining COVID appropriate behaviour by both the staff as well as beneficiaries while delivering Albendazone tablet during the door to door campaign.

The workshop was attended by CDPOs of Thoubal and Lilong, supervisors, block programme managers, data managers, teachers, medical officers of CHCs and PHCs/UPHCs, RBSK medical officers of Lilong and Thoubal Block. Later, Albendazole Tablets, IEC materials were distributed to the CDPOs of Thoubal and Lilong Blocks as well as to the school teachers.
