India's COVID-19 confirmed caseload surges to 1,40,74,564 with record spike

A total of 2,00,739 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in India as per the latest update by the Union Health Ministry

A total of 2,00,739 new COVID-19 positive cases countrywide pushed the cumulative confirmed caseload in India to 1,40,74,564 on Thursday, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,038 COVID-19 related deaths were reported while 93,528 more people recovered from the illness in the last 24 hours, the ministry stated in the morning release.

The number of total recoveries from COVID-19 reached 1,24,29,564, while the total tally of active case stood at 14,71,877 and the total death toll touched 1,73,123 on Thursday, the ministry report stated.

As the Coronavirus continues to spread, the country has ramped up COVID-19 vaccination drive with the launch of Tika Utsav. Countrywide, a total of 11,44,93,238 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine till date as per the latest update by the ministry.
