Tamenglong medical team reaches out to remote Impa Ningdi village on National Safe Motherhood Day
Along with a vaccination drive for COVID-19, enrolment for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), and free testing for malaria, Hepatitis B and C, free medicines were provided to 155 patients.
District Health Society (DHS), Tamenglong organised a National Safe Motherhood Day programme at Impa Ningdi village on Sunday.
Impa Ningdi village is located in a remote part of Tousem Sub-division of Tamenglong district, which is about 60 km away from Tamenglong Headquarters.
The programme is considered an act of ‘breaking the silence’ and providing a ray of hope to the remote village.
During the programme, a medical team led by chief medical officer Tamenglong, Dr Chambo Gonmei examined 155 patients.
Along with a vaccination drive for COVID-19, enrolment for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), and free testing for malaria, Hepatitis B and C, free medicines were also provided to patients.
Speaking to the Imphal Free Press after his return from the remote village, Dr Chambo said Impa Ningdi is one of the villages which is difficult to reach out because of the difficult road condition and rough terrain.
The CMO said that the National Safe Motherhood Day programme was organised by DHS Tamenglong in association with ICDS, Social welfare, Tamenglong.
Declaring that the programme was conducted successfully, he mentioned that several women and children from surrounding villages like Charinapaeng, Aben, Longchai and Atengba among others attended the camp.
"Advocacy on COVID-19 Vaccination was also included in the programme," he said, adding that similar programmes have also been held at Azuram village and Charamram village.
