Speaker Yumnam Khemchand cuts inaugural ribbon of ‘Dream High Fitness Centre’

Each and every one can contribute in controlling the drugs menace of the state by taking up initiatives which are worthwhile for society, said Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand on Friday.

Khemchand was speaking at the inaugural function of Dream High Fitness Centre at near Manipur University, Canchipur as the chief guest.

The government has launched its ‘War on Drugs’ mission to curb the drug issues in the state but the drugs business and related issues are increasing day by day, said Khemchand while speaking as the chief guest.

At this crucial juncture, there is a need for every citizen to extend their support to prevent the drugs menace or else, the future of the state is grim, he said.

Showing his appreciation to the owners of the newly inaugurated fitness centre ‘Dream High Fitness Centre’, he said, “Such fitness centres would help the people in keeping drug addiction or any kind of intoxicants at bay.”

Proprietor of the fitness centre A Bebita who is also a journalist said that people have become conscious about their health and aware of the advantages of joining zumba or aerobic courses. But many could not afford it out of poverty, he said. To make them avail the health benefits from the fitness centres, it is being set up, he added.

She appealed to all to get the advantages and stay free from lifestyle diseases. News producer BK Meitei and health expert S Raghumani attended the occasion as the guest of honour and president respectively.
