Five more air passengers found COVID-19 positive at Imphal airport
Manipur recorded 16 new COVID-19 positive cases and one death on Thursday.
Manipur on Thursday recorded 16 more COVID-19 positive cases, including five air passengers at the Imphal airport and one Central Armed Forces (CAPF) personnel. With it, the cumulative number of positive cases in the state reached 29,463, the state health department said.
As many as 102 air passengers were tested for COVID-19 at Imphal airport on Thursday. A total of 2,656 air passengers have been tested in Manipur so far, according to the state health department
The new positive cases included four each from Jiribam and Bishnupur; three each from Imphal East and Imphal West; and one each from Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
Meanwhile, a five-year-old boy from Bishnupur district who died at the Shija Hospital in Imphal became the latest COVID-19 victim in the state, taking the death toll to 375, the release stated.
The number of active cases in the state also increased to 87 while three more recoveries pushed the cumulative number of recovered cases to 29,001, it stated.
It further stated that air passengers who travelled to the state on April 7, 2021 by Indigo flight 6E-6358 (Kolkata to Imphal) in rows 2-8 and 6E-6181 (Kolkata to Imphal) in rows 4-10 and Air Asia flight I5 783 in rows 25-31; and on April 6, 2021 by Indigo flight 6E-6181 in rows 1-6 are to inform the common Covid Control Room at 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance officers (DSO) immediately.
COVID-19 Vaccination Update
A total of 961 more people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in the state. With it, the cumulative number of people vaccinated rose to 90,551, icnlduing 31,813 healthcare workers. No severe reactions or adverse event has been reported so far, the release added.
