Despite the widespread concern over COVID-19 second wave in India, the country has been witnessing a decline in case fatality rate in the past weeks. Eleven states-Union territories have not reported any COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the report by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Wednesday.
In Northeast India, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh reported no COVID-19 related deaths on Tuesday. The other states and UT with no report of COVID-19 related deaths are Odisha, Ladakh, Daman and Diu and Daman and Nagar Haveli, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Arunachal Pradesh, the ministry stated.
The ministry report stated that India’s COVID-19 death rate is on a continuous decline and currently stands at 1.30 per cent.
Meanwhile, eight states across the country account for 84.44 per cent of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties at 297. Punjab follows with 61 daily deaths, the ministry added.
