COVID-19 cases in Tripura rise to 1,147

Nine more persons tested positive for the novel coronavirus, official sources said on Thursday.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Tripura has risen to 1,147 after nine more persons tested positive for the novel coronavirus, official sources said on Thursday.

Taking to Twitter, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that the new cases are among the 130 samples tested for COVID-19 on Thursday morning.

Of them, three have returned to the state by flight, while the other six cases are contacts of COVID-19 patients, the CM said in his tweet.

"Out of 130 samples tested for COVID-19 today morning, 9 people found POSITIVE. Among them 3 are flight passengers & others are contacts of COVID-19 patients," the CM tweeted on Thursday.

In Tripura, a total of 50,273 samples have been tested till Wednesday, of which results of 49,135 returned negative, reports said. A total of 537 people are under institutional quarantine, while 6,472 people are in home quarantine, the reports added.

On Wednesday, Tripura reported 43 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total active cases to 582. A total of 556 recovered cases were reported till Wednesday.
