Manipur's COVID-19 caseload surged to 29,428 on Monday as five more persons tested positive for the viral infection in a span of 24 hours, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The new positive cases included one each from Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
While the death toll remained at 374, nine more recoveries pushed the cumulative number of recovered cases to 28,997. The number of active cases also dropped to 57 and the recovery rate is 98.53 per cent, the release stated.
It further stated that air passengers who travelled to the state on April 2, 2021 by Indigo flight 6E-6181 in rows 4-10 are to inform the Common COVID-19 Control Room No 18003453818 or respective district surveillance officer (DSO).

A total of 78 more persons have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in the state, taking the cumulative number of vaccine beneficiaries to 87,719. So far, as many as 31,694 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in Manipur, the release stated. No severe reactions or adverse event has been reported so far, the state health department added.
