COVID-19 testing rate in Delhi fixed at Rs 2,400: Manish Sisodia

The new testing rate is effective from today.

The Delhi Government has capped the rate of COVID RT PCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) test in the national capital at Rs 2,400, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.

"Delhi govt decided to cap the rates for Covid RT-PCR test @ Rs 2400/- inclusive of all charges,' the deputy CM tweeted.

As suggested by a high-level committee set up by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Ministry of Home Affairs had on Wednesday fixed the price of coronavirus test in Delhi at Rs 2,400.

The tests will now be done via Rapid Antigen methodology approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Earlier, Delhi was following the cap rates for COVID RT PCR test at Rs 4,500 ordered by the ICMR.

As per the Union Health Ministry, Delhi reported 2,414 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total cases in the national capital to 47,102, including 17,457 recovered cases and 1,904 deaths.

Delhi is the third worst-hit state in India after Maharashtra with 1,16,752 cases and Tamil Nadu with 50,193 cases.

Meanwhile, after Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, Sisodia has been given the additional charge of the Health Ministry.
