Moreh: One apprehended with brown sugar

The AR troops recover a bag containing 7 packages (77-Soap Cases, weighing 1000gms) of suspected Brown Sugar and a sword.

Moreh battalion Assam Rifles has apprehended an individual with 1,000gms of Brown Sugar worth around Rs 2 crore on Wednesday.

The apprehended individual is identified as Khamjapao Baite, 54, son of Thongkhongam Baite of Chalson Tengnoupal, Tengnoupal district currently staying at Zion Veng, Moreh No VII. He was apprehended around 10:30 am near KLP while he was transporting the contraband drugs along a jungle track.

According to report, the Assam Rifles personnel who were on Area Domination patrol spotted an individual who was moving with suspected load at around 10:30 am. When the AR party signalled him to stop for frisking, the individual tried to use his sword to cause injury to AR troops while making an attempt to escape. The AR exercised maximum restraint and fired two warning shots to secure surrender of the individual and apprehended him.

The apprehended individual along with the recovered drug has been handed over to Moreh police station.
