The 1st Thongju Kendra Open Marathon under the theme ‘Fight against Immorality and Corruption’, organised by Thongju Kendra Tengbang Lup was held on Saturday.
Altogether, 110 runners including 30 girls participated in the marathon race of 20 km and was flagged off from Ibudhou Puruksoubi Complex, Uchekon Takhok Mapal in Thongju assembly constituency.
Chief Patron of Thongju Kendra Tengbang Lup, Seram Neken flagged off the Marathon race in presence of TKTL president, Oinam Romeo, legal advisor N Angothoiba and chairman of the organising committee, Konsam Diraj Singh.
In the boy’s category, Ningombam Pholendro bagged the first position and Amakcham Sanajaoba became second position, while Ningombam Malemnganba stood third position. As for the girl’s category, N Kamala became the winner, Ksh Diana bagged second position and L Linthoi finished third.
Position holders up to third spot were given cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 along with citations.
Boys and girls who finished 4th to 10th position were given Rs 1,000 each, and all other participants were given Rs 500 each.
The prize distribution ceremony was held at MEIRAA Ground Bashikhong with retired principal of GP Women’s College, Ningombam Ibobi Singh along with other dignitaries.
