Organised by the district administration of Tamenglong, a one-day seminar on citrus fruits with special focus on oranges was held on Friday at Shekinuh Inn Tamenglong district headquarters.
The programme was attended by resource persons from Central Agricultural University, Imphal including head of social science professor A Herojit; head of Entomology professor Kh Ibohal Singh and subject matter specialist (SMS) Horticulture Krishi Vigyan Kendra Tamenglong, Rk Roshan and SMS (plant protection) KVK-Churchandpur N Johnson.
It may be mentioned here that the famed oranges from Tamenglong were decomposing some years back, and productions had significantly decreased. Keeping an eye on the issue and also to promote farmers, a similar seminar is also scheduled to be held on Saturday March 27 at Sibilong village under Tousem sub-division.
