Mass awareness campaign on free and competent legal aid launched

The campaign to be carried out through hoardings was launched in the presence of additional session judge, Fast Track Court, Crime against Women Ojesh Mutum and deputy member secretary, MASLSA Sorokhaibam Sadananda.

A mass legal awareness campaign on free and competent legal aid was flagged off by executive chairman, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) justice Kh Nobin Singh at the office of MSLSA, Imphal on Thursday. 

The campaign to be carried out through hoardings was launched in the presence of additional session judge, Fast Track Court, Crime against Women Ojesh Mutum and deputy member secretary, MASLSA Sorokhaibam Sadananda.

At the occasion, Sadananda briefed about the project, setting up of 25 Legal Aid Clinics at village level in Manipur, its activities, and its success story. He also highlighted the lessons learned from the project and the purpose of legal awareness campaign.

Justice Kh Nobin Singh said that MSLSA has been creating awareness on legal issues to the public for the past many years in various forms.

He also said that MSLSA, Imphal in collaboration with the department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice have undertaken a project under Access to Justice, NE and JK project to legally empower communities of the hill districts. 

The campaign is being undertaken as a means to reach every sections of the community through permanent awareness structure along the strategic locations and highways of the state, he added.
