A 14-day Special Handloom Expo 2020-21 was inaugurated on Monday at the Manipur Library Complex, Imphal.
The exhibition was organised by Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans CS Ltd (AWAS).
OSD of Manipur Textile Processing Institute Konsam Kumarjit, while speaking at the occasion, urged the weavers of the state to stop using any artificial colouring material in making handloom products as it lowers the quality of the products.
He appealed to the weavers to use colouring material approved by the department of Handloom and Textile and approached the office of MTPI at Lamboi Khonangkhong for training on textile processing.
The function was attended by national awardee G Shanti Devi, president of AWAS K Indira Devi and deputy director of Weavers’ Service Centre, Imphal, HK Baro as presidium members.
