Demand Committee on Creation of ADCs warns of imposing bandh

The DCCADCs warned that it will launch a 24-hour total bandh if the state government does not take a concrete decision on or before March 25 for the creation of ADCs for the new created hill districts.

The Demand Committee on Creation of Autonomous Districts Councils (DCCADCs) for Kamjong, Noney, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal districts has stated on Saturday that it will launch a 24-hour total bandh if the state government does not take a concrete decision on or before March 25 for the creation of Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) for the new created hill districts of Manipur.

While demanding that the concrete decisions much be taken before the schedule of elections for the six ADCs is announced, a release stated that DCCADCS has petitioned the CM and minister of tribal affairs and hills concerned, and parleyed for necessary immediate creation of ADCs for the newly created districts a number of times. It also mentioned a series of meetings, press meets, dharnas and press statements have been organised demanding the creation of the new ADCs for the newly created hill districts.

In case of failure to do so at the earliest, more intense forms of agitations will be launched soon, it warned while also appealing to the general public, CVOs, all political parties and affected people for cooperation.
