All political party meet resolves to oppose delimitation

Representatives of 16 political parties of Manipur attended the all political party meet held on Tuesday which was conducted at state Congress office, BT road, Imphal.

The first all political parties meeting held against delimitation notification unanimously resolved a five point resolution, including the decision to oppose the delimitation notification of February 28 based on the 2001 census politically and legally.

Representatives of 16 political parties of the state attended the all political party meet held on Tuesday which was conducted at state Congress office, BT road, Imphal.

The meet was conducted to deliberate on “the delimitation and readjustment exercise being undertaken by the 'delimitation commission' based on the census 2001 under delimitation Act, 2002.”

The meeting resolved to submit a memorandum to the central government and all concerned with an appeal to review and defer the delimitation notification of February 28. It further resolved to file a writ-PIL before the High Court of Manipur and Supreme court of India (if required) by all political parties and any other political parties willing to join the Forum later on, challenging the notification issued on February 28 based on 2001 census data.

The meeting also resolves to constitute a memorandum drafting committee and to authorize the committee to draw a draft memorandum which is to be placed before the ‘All political parties’ meeting to be held on Wednesday which will be hosted by state Bharatiya Janata Party at its party office located at Canchipur, Imphal.

The committee has appointed chairman as M Nara former minister of CPI; Thoudam Manihar of APP; Ph Jilasana Sharma of NPP; O Nabakishore Singh of INC and Elangbam Johnson of BJP as members.
