Arunachal Pradesh: Two killed, over 100 houses gutted in massive fire

At least two persons, including a five-year-old girl, were killed and over 100 houses were gutted in a massive fire that broke out at Longliang village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, according to reports.

As per the reports, the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. The incident happened at around 12:45 pm and the inferno was brought under control after three hours, the reports added.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said he is pained by the tragic incident.

Condoling the deaths of the two, the chief minister said that necessary ex-gratia relief is being extended and immediate relief is being provided to the families affected by the fire accident.

"Deeply pained by tragic fire accident at Longliang village under Lazu circle in Tirap district that claimed two precious lives & more than 100 houses burnt to ashes. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives. All necessary relief being extended," Khandu tweeted.
