Sahitya Academy award winner Rameshor Sarungbam honored

The writer was honoured with cash awards and various gifts as a sign of encouragement.

Recipient of Sahitya Yuva Puruskar Award 2020 Rameshor Sarungbam of Yairipok Bishnunaha was accorded a warm welcome on Wednesday as a sign of encouragement by a team consisting of the councilor of Yairipok Municipal Council Ward No I, Laishram Subhachandra and the elders of his village.

The team which was led by the councilor visited the residence of the Rameshor at Siphai Leikai. The writer was honoured with cash awards and various gifts as a sign of encouragement during a simple ceremony. The ceremony was arranged by Laishram Subhachandra as an expression of happiness and joy for the honour and recognitions Rameshor’s works have gained.

Rameshor Sarungbam not only is a well-known lyricist of All India Radio (AIR), Imphal but he has also published two poetry-books titled “Ireibak  Ireibak” and “Kairaba Chafu Machet.”

Speaking on the occasion, Subhachandra said, “We should all be proud of Rameshor for bringing fame and pride to Yairipok side and also the whole of Manipur.”

While mentioning that a writer is born with a special talent and no ordinary human can emulate their feats, he also wished that Rameshor’s works in the future will also bring accolades. Laishram Subhachandra further assured that he will always support Rameshor in his future endeavours.

Wednesday's simple ceremony also witnessed the attendance of elders from the locality including O Manihal, W Ragumani, Md Anamuddin and officials of the ward.
