Hand grenade found near AR transit camp following recent blast

The bomb was found at around 8.15 am on the southern side of the main gate of the camp, about 10 meters away from the spot where one bomb exploded on Wednesday late evening.

After the recent hand grenade attack at Assam Rifles transit camp located near Minuthong bridge, one unexploded hand grenade was found near the main gate of the same camp on Friday morning.

The bomb was found at around 8.15 am on the southern side of the main gate of the camp, about 10 meters away from the spot where one bomb exploded on Wednesday late evening.

A team of Imphal West district police led by additional superintendent of police (Ops) L Amarjit rushed to the spot. Another team of Manipur Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) came and recovered the bomb at about 9.40 am. Later, the bomb was safely disposed of at Langol forest range area at about 11.50 am, Lamshang.

Recently on Wednesday late evening, one bomb exploded and it was seen hurled by one unknown person in a two-wheeler in CCTV camera footage. Later, PREPAK (PRO), a militant outfit claimed responsibility for the activity. One Assam Rifles security personnel was injured during the incident.

Police reported that the bomb recovered on Friday is a Chinese made hand grenade. It was suspected to be related to the recent incident.
