Manipur COVID-19 positive cases reach 500 mark

Ten more returnees, six from Senapati district and four from Imphal West district, tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.

Manipur’s total number of COVID-19 patients has reached the 500 mark as 10 more returnees tested positive for the virus, the health department said on Tuesday.

Of the 500 positive tally, 341 are active cases while 159 others have recovered and discharged from the hospital. The recovery rate is now 31.8 per cent, health department spokesman and additional director Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said in a release.

Six new coronavirus patients are from Senapati district while the other four patients are from Imphal West districts. They have been shifted to Covid care facilities in JNIMS and RIMS, Dr Mangang added.

Apart from the new number of patients being reported daily, new facts about Coronavirus are emerging daily.

In view of it, all frontline workers need skill upgradation through proper training and discipline, Dr Mangang said. He said that till date, the state CIVID-19 Training Team has trained 522 medical officers, 917 staff nurse, 349 allied healthcare providers, 902 auxiliary nurse midwives, and 1,573 social health activists.
