Assam: 188 more patients discharged from hospitals; total recovered cases rise to 2,393

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Assam have gone down to 1,915 as 188 more patients were discharged from different hospitals after they tested negative for the novel coronavirus, official sources said on Tuesday.

According to the latest update posted by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Twitter, the number of recovered cases have surpassed the number of active cases in the state.

With the new discharged cases, the total number of recovered cases in Assam rose to 2,393 of the total 4,319 COVID-19 positive cases reported so far.

"Glad to share that 188 patients have been discharged today from various civil, dist & model hospitals in Assam, after being tested negative," Sarma tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Assam reported 10 new cases, of which Dhemaji and Udalguri reported three cases each, Sonitpur two while Nagaon and Hojai reported one case each.

Eight patients in Assam have succumbed to the disease while three patients have migrated to other states.

Meanwhile, Assam completed a record 10,000 testing on Tuesday, taking the total COVID-19 tests in the state to 2.27 lakh.

"Extremely pleased to share that we have completed a record 10,000 testing today, taking our total #Covid19 tests to 2.27 lakh. My compliments to our wonderful team of front line workers, doctors, scientists and officers who have achieved this feat," the health minister said in a tweet.
