As many as 156 persons were detained by the police during a crackdown on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the state government and State Disaster Management Authority in view of the COVID-19 pandemic in Manipur on Thursday. The arrested were later released after issuing them a warning, police sources said.
A release by IGP (Ops), nodal officer (COVID-19) Manipur Police stated that a total fine of Rs 18,100 was collected from the violators. They issued a warning that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions will be dealt with strong legal action under the National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
