Manipur police detain 158 SOPs violators

The police department warned that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus in the state, the Manipur police department continued to crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the state government and State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic.

A release by staff officer to IGP (Ops), for nodal officer (COVID-19) for Manipur Police said that during a drive on Sunday, 158 persons were detained and collectively fined a sum of Rs 16,800 as per law. They were later released after warning.
