X-Polo Club Wangkhei, Linthoiunganbi Kangjei Lup lift Junior Boys and Girls State Polo titles

The best player of the meet was bagged by L Abinash of Linthoiunganbi Kangjei Lup while W Kedarnath of K and MM Riding School fetched the best promising player title.

X-Polo Club, Wangkhei emerged champion beating Linthoiunganbi Kangjei Lup by 5-4 goals in 4th Junior Boys U-16 State Polo Tournament 2021 organised by All Manipur Polo Association, played at Iroisemba Ground, Imphal West.

As for the Junior Girls category, Linthoiunganbi Kangjei Lup took the winning title beating Chingkheihunba Polo Club by 6-5 goals.

The final match of the Junior Boys was a close call game as Linthoiunganbi Kangjei Lup gave a hard time to X-Polo Club particularly in the fourth chukker. But nevertheless, X-Polo Club had a positive start as they scored regularly till the third chukker.

X-Polo Club started the game with Th Nongpoknganba scoring the opening goal but Linthoiunganbi Kangjei Lup struck back in full force with L Abinash getting the equaliser and later skipper Th Santosh getting the leading goal in the first chukker.

The second and third chukker were dominated by X-Polo Club as they smashed home four goals with Th Nongpoknganba hitting in one goal in the second chukker and later skipper P Bikash scored two goals and O Rahul fetched one goal in the third chukker to make a giant leap in the game.

But in the fourth chukker, Linthoiunganbi Kangjei Lup swung back with Alex Aheibam finding his rhythm to strike two goals in quick succession but as minutes ticked away, the final gong signalled X-Polo Club to the podium.

The best player of the meet was bagged by L Abinash of Linthoiunganbi Kangjei Lup while W Kedarnath of K and MM Riding School fetched the best promising player title and LAAMAN Polo Club with the best discipline team prize.

The junior girls’ team of Linthoiunganbi Kangjei Lup, avenged the defeat of its male counterparts with 6-5 goals over Chingkheihunba Polo Club. Khudongbam Deventy scored three goals and was later declared as the best player of the meet while skipper Kh Habe struck two goals and Kh Chaoba fetched one goal on Sunday.

As for Chingkheihunba Polo Club, skipper Th Tanna, I Sangita scored two goals while Jetholia Thongbam chipped in with one goal.
