Mirabai approached the apex court after her dismissal plea challenging a petition filed by Sapam Kunjakeshwor alias Keba, was rejected by the High Court of Manipur.

Kunjakeshwor was one of the contenders of Mirabai in the 2017 Assembly election from Patsoi constituency. After the result was declared, Kunjakeshwor petitioned the High Court alleging that the counting of election for Patsoi is fraught with discrepancies.

While Mirabai challenged Kunjakeshwor's petition on the ground that it is devoid of any merit, the HC rejected her plea.

Subsequently, Mirabai challenged the final judgment of the High Court before the apex court. The apex court dismissed the application stating, "We see no reason to entertain the petition".

The apex court had also on July 4, 2018, had directed the High Court of Manipur to expedite the hearing of all the election petitions pending before it (HC).
