Duiluan village resolves to ban road construction

The Primary School of Duiluan Part II, Tamenglong district was completely damaged while constructing the double lane road by the Hindustan construction Company Ltd, a release issued by secretary, village authority Dinkoulak Panmei stated.


Duiluan Village Authority, Tamenglong on Tuesday announced to stop the ongoing work for the construction of a double lane road from March 17 if the state government fails to meet their demand to erect a new building for the primary school of Duiluan Part II, Tamenglong district.

The Primary School of Duiluan Part II, Tamenglong district was completely damaged while constructing the double lane road by the Hindustan construction Company Ltd, a release issued by secretary, village authority Dinkoulak Panmei stated.

It stated that the construction of the road by this Bombay based company was taken up under the funding of Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The construction of the said road is still going on but due to destruction of the school building while widening the said double lane, the school had been shut down since January 2019 till date.

While condemning the authority concerned, it stated that the villagers had approached all concerned authorities such as deputy commissioner, Tamenglong District; chairman of ADC Tamenglong and project director of Kangchup to Tamenglong Road under ADB. But no action has been taken till date.

The release drew the attention of authorities concerned to construct a new school building immediately in a suitable place within the jurisdiction of Duiluan Village Part-II in the interest of poor students of the said school, it added.

It said that the villagers had resolved to stop construction of double lane road within the jurisdiction of Duiluan Part-II village areas from March 17 indefinitely until the new building of the school is constructed.
