The first position holder of Manipur HSLC board Examination 2020, Reshmi Nandeibam gives credit to her parents and well wishers for her success and is eyeing to become a doctor in the future and serve the people of the state.

Hailing from Khongman Zone-V, Imphal East as the first child of Nandeibam Rishinanda and Rajkumari Sanahanbi, Reshmi bagged the top position after securing overall marks of 579 out of 600.

A student of Pitambara English School, Reshmi is also the subject topper of Higher Mathematics by securing 100 out of 100.

“I would like to give credit for my success to my parents, teachers and well wishers,” Reshmi said while interacting with media persons at her residence on Monday after declaration of the examination results.

Beaming with happiness, Reshmi stated that she was confident of securing one of the top five positions as she had performed really well in the exam but she never thought that she would stood the first position.

She said that she has no specific study schedule but concentrate on her studies whenever she has time. As intimated by her, she attended private coaching classes for all the subjects but made sure that she finds time for self study as well.

When asked about what she wants to become in life, Reshmi asserted, “I want to become a doctor in the future. I have been always interested in the medical sciences and I want to hone my interest and serve the people,” she said.

About her further studies, the first position holder said that she would like to continue her studies in the state under the guidance of her parents till higher secondary level.

Responding to the media, she said that she does not own a smartphone as she is not interested but uses her mother’s phone when she wants to use the internet for taking reference. She also appealed to other students who were not able to pass the exam not to be disheartened and work harder for next time.

Reshmi expressed that the prolonged lockdown imposed in view of COVID-19 spread has affected the students and caused them to feel unrest. “I would have already started taking coaching for class XI but I cannot because of the lockdown,” she added.

Reshmi’s father, Nandeibam Rishinanda is a BSF head constable who is presently posted at Koirengei and her mother, Sanahanbi is a homemaker.
