One drug peddler escaped from the custody of Imphal police station on Saturday at about 12.30 pm while he was brought to be produced before the duty magistrate.

The peddler has been identified as one Mong Haokip, 58, son of late Litham Haokip of Mouloi village near Pallel, Kakching district. He was arrested under FIR number 21(2)2021 Imphal police station U/S 21(B) NDPS.

He escaped from the police custody when the police team was trying to pick up a woman who had been kept under lock up at Women Police Station. Police are still tracing Mong at Lamphel area.
