The 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector of Assam Rifles IGAR (E) on Thursday administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at their camp complex, Tamenglong.
On the first day as many as 100 jawans were prepared to get vaccinated and the first dose of vaccine for 44 Assam Rifles was witnessed by WHO consultant Dr Pinky Sarangthem, CMO of Tamenglong Dr Chambo Gonmei, district immunization officer Dr Sunil Kamei and other health staffs.
Speaking during the short launching programme, commandant of 44 Assam Rifles, Col Pradeep Kumar felicitated the COVID-19 warriors stating that the sacrifices they have made every day for the safety and welfare of humanity is priceless and deserves lifelong gratitude.
He said that although the vaccination is voluntary and is being provided by the government free of cost, yet it is advisable to receive the complete schedule of COVID-19 vaccine for their own protection and to limit the spread of the disease to others.
While urging the local public to come forward voluntarily to get vaccinated, he said that this development will accelerate a healthier and COVID-19 free society.
During the vaccination programme, dance performances were also organised which included Bangra dance, Khukhri dance, followed by melodious music and handicrafts exhibition to express gratitude and honour to the medical staff and media persons for their relentless service for humanity.
