Following the dip in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Nagaland government on Saturday allowed opening of religious places or places of worship with 100 per cent capacity, subject to adherence to COVID appropriate behaviour.

"The number of persons to be allowed in any religious/place of worship is up to 100 per cent of the capacity of that building/place, subject to adherence to COVID appropriate behaviour such as wearing of mask and hand sanitisation," according to an order issued by principal secretary (Home) Abhijit Singha on Saturday.

The order further stated that modification of Order dated 10/06/2020 regarding the opening of religious institutions will come into force with immediate effect. The remaining order remains unchanged, it added.

On June 10, 2020, a High Powered Committee (HPC) on COVID-19 headed by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio gave the green signal for opening of religious places with 30 per cent of the capacity of that building/place.
