Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called radio as fantastic medium for deepening social connect, as he greeted radio listeners on the World Radio Day.

In a tweet, PM Modi said that he has personally experienced the positive impact of radio through his monthly radio programme 'Maan Ki Baat'.

"Happy World Radio Day! Greetings to all radio listeners and kudos to all those who keep the radio buzzing with innovative content and music. This is a fantastic medium, which deepens social connect. I personally experience the positive impact of radio thanks to #MannKiBaat," PM Modi tweeted.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar also extended his greetings on World Radio Day.

"The spread of radio is continuously increasing. Happy World Radio Day to all.  Greetings to all on #WorldRadioDay," Javdekar tweeted.

World Radio Day was proclaimed by the member states of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2011 and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012 as an international day. It is celebrated across the globe to raise awareness about the importance of radio as a medium among people.
