The pre-board examination for 2020-21 will be conducted from March 8-19, the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools’ Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) announced on Friday.

The association also appealed to all schools under the association to give 20 marks as an internal assessment mark for all the students since the activities to provide internal assessment marks were not conducted due to the pandemic.

The examination was scheduled to be held from March 15 to 26, AMRPSWA secretary Surjit Singh said while speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club. However, the association has rescheduled it to an earlier date, following instructions from Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) that the internal assessment marks for the school have to be submitted from 16 March, he said.

Surjit Singh said the association had been conducting pre board examination since 2005 by following the question patterns and rules set by BOSEM. He said that the subjects for the current year will include the main subjects namely manipuri (meitei mayek), additional english, social science, science and mathematics.

Besides the main subjects, the optional subjects include home science, higher mathematics, computer science, commerce, Thang-Ta, fine arts, music (eshei jagoi) and Manipuri dance, he added.

The secretary of the association also said that around 200 schools with students numbering around 10,000 are expected to take part in the examination. Conducting the examination will help the students to prepare for BOSEM examination and it will further increase the pass percentage of the students in the state as a whole, Surjit said.
