Manipur has reported nine more COVID-19 cases, taking the total tally to 458 and active cases increased to 367, the state health department said on Sunday.
The health department spokesperson Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang said in a release that of the nine new cases, four were reported from RIMS VRDL and the other five from JNIMS VRDL.
As elderly persons, especially those with pre-existing health conditions are more vulnerable to the complications of COVID-19, they need special attention and protection, Dr Mangang said.
Nearly 8.6 per cent of the population in the state is above 60 years. In view of it, the Outreach Team of the Health Department has been visiting old age homes at Monsangei and Phayeng in Imphal West and Bashikhong and Kongba at Imphal East among others, Dr Mangang said in a release.
